Look what the postman delivered

IMG_3167 A little while ago I came across this pattern. Now it has arrived, I will have to plan a weekend to do some sewing. I really want to make myself this tunic.  But first I will have to do some shopping and buy the right fabric.

Feathered star block

Finally finished two corners of this block! And as you can see, I can undo one corner again. I'm really starting to hate this pattern. Will I ever get it right in one go. At the rate I'm going, I'm undoing every block at least 6 times before I get it right. Perseverance is really necessary for this block or to be more accurate quilt. Yes I'm a little frustrated, do I need to say more. Will get back to it soon, although I'm slightly disillusioned at the moment. I think I've set my goals to high!

Quilt evening

Some people keep on amazing me. Look at the wonderful projects some are completing.

Tonny is quilting het 'Mammy Quilt'.

Tonny is also making a small hexagon baby doll quilt.

Matty has finished her 'rag' memory quilt.

Matty is also making a big pillow quilt. In the picture underneath you can see she will be quilting cat footprints on this quilt. Guess who may enjoy this pillow when it is finished?

Tonny has finished her Sunbonnet top. Hasn't the border turned out well?

And, here is her house quilt.

Marja en I are making slow progress. This is mainly because we can't decide how to finish a block. Marja has decided to undo some of her work to get the centre in this block just right.

And how am I going?

Well my third block is taking shape, only 6 to go after I finish this one!!

Besides quilting and ''show and tell'', sun tans were being compared.

Books were looked through.

And we worked on our projects and drank lots of coffee.

Baby birds

Look who are sitting on our chair swing.

They love sitting there watching mummy bird fly by.

Happy Birthday Jackie :)

Because it is her birthday, she is giving a big giveaway. Please go to her website to read all about it.  This is certainly a nice way to celebrate your 'born'-day.

Postman delivered my first stitchery project!!

A while ago I informed you that I'm participating in the Stitchery of the Month Club that is being offered by Under The Mulberry Tree. Each month, for nine months, I will be receiving an stitchery-based project kit from one of the top Australian designers. My first project has arrived. It is from Rosalie Quinlan Designs, and is called Grandma's House.

IMG_3104 Doesn't it look lovely? And look at all the DMC thread that was inside. Will I really be using them all?

IMG_3105Can't wait to see the other eight stitchery's and how all these blocks will be incorporated into a quilttop. Well I'll know around March 2010 battingeyelash_smiley

Another non quilt related post

Yesterday I went shopping with my mum. I came home with a new top and a bag.

As you can see in the photo I'm a little tired, that happens when you work 6 days a week. Today, Sunday, was again spent behind the computer working on some of my assignments.

I'm finally taking a break and catching up on reading some of your blogs.  I will soon post a picture of my progress on the feathered star quilt.

Teddy loves 'chocomel' too

The last couple of days it has been a little colder than usual. To warm myself up I sometimes have some 'chocomel'. For those who don't live in the Netherlands this is chocolate milk. You can buy a pack in any grocery store.

I'm not the only one who likes 'chocomel'. Teddy loves it too. After I've finished my cup of chocolate he couldn't wait to get his tongue and feet into the cup.

Quilt it & Dotty

Today we had a little outing. Where did we go? If you read the header you have already guessed, yes, we went to Quilt it & Dotty in Tilburg. Sadly, we couldn't stay as long as we had intended. We left home at 9.00 am, but around 9.45 our journey stopped abruptly due to an accident. We stood still on the highway for more than an hour and started driving again around 11.10 am. We won't say too much about the congestion that the accident had caused. The accident must have been a bad one as 4 ambulances were needed.

We finally arrived at 12.00 am in Tilburg. Mirjam, had waited for us all that time (a 2 hour wait). Luckily she had a good book with her, as there were no lunchrooms, pubs or museums nearby. She had journeyed  with the train to Tilburg, and in hindsight should we.

The long drive was worth it. We were meet at the door by Dotty.

This was what we saw when we got inside.

Mirjam, Tonny and I all bought the quilt pattern for Ursula's Mosaic. Tonny and Mirjam also bought stamp templates, that you can use for this pattern. I'll be making my own templates.

I was so busy selecting my fatquarters that I didn't see if Janny or Marja bought anything. In the last photo, above right, you can see which fabrics I selected. I also bought a thimble and a tiny rotary mat.

Dotty has also got a blog. Do visit to read what she has been up to.

Well I now have another challenge: I have to find time to quilt, exercise, work, blog, read and socialize. Will I be able to do them all? I really need more hours in a day!!
